History of Mimosa
There’s a growing connectivity gap between consumers who live in highly dense areas where it’s relatively cheap and easy to deploy fibre, versus more rural areas that lack the underlying infrastructure to support higher speeds. And, of course, there are developing parts of the world where wired infrastructure doesn’t exist at all, and where wireless connectivity is still expensive to deploy.
Mimosa was founded in 2012 by a couple of veterans of the telecom and networking technology industry. With three years of development and $38 million raised, Mimosa Networks was ready to take on the challenge of making wireless broadband a lot faster and more affordable, especially in areas that were not served by traditional wired broadband providers.
In 2018 Mimosa Networks was acquired by Airspan, the leading vendor of 4G/5G wireless densification solutions. Together the two companies aim to change the wireless world by developing technology that is capable of outrageous throughput, next level interference avoidance and more subscribers per access point.
