Dear customers and team members,
After the latest presidential announcement updating the nation that our lockdown will be extended by another two weeks (fingers crossed), I thought it good to share some of my thoughts for the future.
The COVID-19 pandemic is the biggest challenge the world has faced in recent decades. It’s also clear that life will not be normal after the lockdown and the way we do things will have to change – many businesses will have to reinvent themselves and many habits and preferences will have to be adjusted.
There is this quote on our head office cafeteria wall from an American-Canadian public speaker, Brian Tracy, that reads: “Obstacles come to instruct, not to obstruct.” There is a reason why we chose to put this quote on our company wall – we see truth in it. With the spread of COVID-19, there’s no better time to admit that we are facing some serious obstacles as a nation and we should take these obstacles and see them as instructions.
For MiRO, as a supplier of communication technology solutions, we see some major shifts in the way the world goes about – on a pretty permanent basis. We see the importance of communication technology mounting as it now plays a critical role in keeping businesses operating from home, families and friends connected, students learning new things as well as government and medical services persisting, all while maintaining the WHO’s recommendation of social distancing. I don’t know about you, but we have mastered the team conference call and our ability to deliver output whilst reducing travelling and physical contact, and we love it!
With COVID-19 being the catalyst for the increase in internet bandwidth demand, we will see our networks cracking at the seams, the way we build and manage our work-from-home networks will change, the way we do wireless and fibre installations will change, and we will all have to think outside the box – what a great opportunity for us to evolve as an industry.
MiRO’s technology offering is geared to take on the challenge, with incredible performing high-frequency millimetre wave links and CWDM fibre tech to boost your backhaul capacity, exceptionally intuitive and cost-effective firewall and SD-WAN solutions to quickly scale and secure your residential and home office customers’ networks, easy to deploy last-mile wireless and passive fibre solutions that can be installed without entering the customer’s house, whole-home mesh Wi-Fi technology to keep parents working and kids entertained anywhere in the house as well as cloud-based video conferencing to keep productive and to keep your extended family sane by hosting an online Friday night quiz or two.
With all this said we believe that the future for ICT is bright and this might just be what the world needed to finally make the dream of a digital world come true.
If you’re an essential worker – we’d like to thank you for your service – stay safe and stay healthy. For the rest of us – stay home, and wash those hands.
