In a candid interview with Marco de Ru, Managing Director at MiRO, we explore what inspired this shift, how it benefits you, and what the future of doing business with MiRO looks like. 

What inspired MiRO to develop and implement an e-commerce platform?

Over the years, we’ve seen how the needs of our partners have evolved. Speed, convenience, and autonomy have become central to how they want to do business. Developing the miro.co.za e-commerce platform was a natural step in meeting these expectations.  

How does the e-commerce website align with MiRO’s broader strategy for innovation?

Innovations are a key pillar of MiRO’s strategy. We are not just a distributor but a partner in your business success. The e-commerce platform reflects that mindset. It allows us to offer a better, faster, more responsive experience while freeing your time to focus on growing your business. It is a foundation we continuously build on, with plans for continuous enhancements that keep our offering competitive and future-fit. 

What are some of the biggest benefits to our business partners in using the e-commerce platform?

I would have to say the biggest benefit is control.  Our business partners can access their account, view statements, invoices, log RMA queries, see stock availability, place orders online, and even have them delivered directly to them.

How does the e-commerce platform help our business partners save time, streamline procurement, or improve their overall experience with MiRO?

Everything is designed to be self-service and intuitive. Saving time by not having to phone us, means that you have access to vital information in real-time. Interacting with the site means that you can access anything from stock availability at our branches, view invoices and statements, check warranty on faulty units, and so much more. 

How does the e-commerce platform make MiRO more accessible to business partners across South Africa and beyond?

One of our goals was to remove the geographical barriers to dealing with us. Whether you are based in a metro, a remote town, or one of the SADC regions, the platform gives you equal access to our full range of products and services. It levels the playing field and makes doing business with MiRO easier. 

Can you take us through some of the key features available on the e-commerce platform for our business partners?

Certainly, some of the key features include:

  • Live pricing and real-time stock levels, so you always know what is available, at which branch, and at what price. 
  • Instant Quote generation
  • Online Ordering
  • Account Management tools, including order history, invoices and statements, and more.
  • Technical resources, like datasheets, product specs, and even related products. 

What does the future entail for the e-commerce platform?

We are continuously evolving the platform based on the needs and requirements of our business partners.  Future development will include online order tracking, so you don’t need to track the delivery of your order through a third-party site, but directly through the miro.co.za platform.  

Is there a feedback loop in place for business partners to suggest improvements or request additional functionality?

Yes, and in fact, we encourage feedback.  Business partners can email us at marketing@miro.co.za or on feedback@miro.co.za.  Many of the features that are available online came directly from partner requests.
