Ubiquiti’s big year of growth in South Africa - 2025 in review

This year, we saw a clear shift in how partners, MSPs and enterprises approached Ubiquiti throughout 2025. The entire UniFi and UISP ecosystem matured in a way that brought real value to large projects. The year delivered meaningful upgrades across wireless, routing, surveillance, management and multi-site deployments, and positioned Ubiquiti as a serious choice for enterprise customers in South Africa and the SADC region.

What changed and what was new in 2025

Wi-Fi 7 and UniFi access points

One of the biggest milestones was the arrival of Wi-Fi 7 in the UniFi lineup. The U7 Pro introduced tri-band connectivity, 6 GHz support and the kind of throughput and latency improvements that high density environments need. For universities, corporates and large hospitality venues this technology shift opened the door to true future proof wireless design.

We also saw a clear move to multi gigabit switching across core and edge layers. Partners adopting Wi-Fi 7 quickly learned that pairing new access points with 2.5 GbE or faster PoE switches prevented bottlenecks and gave their clients real world performance gains.

Enterprise grade management with UniFi OS Server

2025 also marked a major moment in how customers chose to host and manage their UniFi environments. UniFi OS Server arrived as a self hosted, containerised platform that gives full local control of data, updates and compliance. This was especially important for MSPs and enterprise customers who wanted predictable performance, centralised workflows and full ownership of their management plane.

For multi-site rollouts across South Africa and neighbouring countries this self hosted model created new opportunities for consistent policies, faster onboarding and easier long term expansion.

Growth in UISP for ISPs and outdoor wireless

Ubiquiti continued to invest in UISP and shaped the range around what ISPs and WISPs actually need. New point to point and point to multipoint equipment, along with the first wave of MLO devices, offered higher throughput and better noise resilience. This helped service providers build reliable last mile connectivity in rural and dense urban environments.

UISP remains one of the strongest options for partners who need predictable outdoor performance and centralised monitoring across wide geographic areas.

The rise of UniFi Enterprise

2025 was also the year the UniFi Enterprise range gained serious traction locally. The new Enterprise E7 access points provided a high-capacity Wi-Fi 7 option built specifically for dense enterprise deployments. With improved MLO performance, multi-gig uplinks and exceptional efficiency across the 6 GHz band, these models enabled IT teams to scale large networks with confidence, using a platform they are already familiar with.

Complementing the APs, the Enterprise Fortress Gateway (EFG) became an important addition for organisations moving toward multi-gig and 10Gb architectures. Designed as a powerful L3 gateway with robust routing, firewalling and other security capabilities, the EFG gave enterprises a simple and cost-effective way to modernise their core infrastructure. Together, the EFG, E7 and Enterprise switches in the series strengthened UniFi’s position in large campus, retail, warehousing and hospitality projects across South Africa.

UniFi Protect and stronger enterprise surveillance options

The surveillance portfolio also grew in a meaningful way. UniFi Protect added new camera models and improved storage, redundancy and analytics. Many customers, especially in retail, warehousing and education, moved toward an integrated design that combines networking, wireless and video under one management interface.

For organisations wanting enterprise grade performance without complex licensing, the improvements in UniFi Protect made a noticeable difference.

What this means for enterprise customers in 2026 and beyond

Across the region we are seeing a shift towards unified ecosystems, simplified design and high performance networks that scale without complicated support structures. Ubiquiti’s 2025 releases made this possible for larger environments by strengthening wireless, management, switching, surveillance and ISP grade infrastructure.

This ties directly back to our experience throughout the year. We supplied more multi site UniFi deployments, more UISP wireless links and more enterprise surveillance solutions than ever before. The demand for predictable, centrally managed networks continues to grow and Ubiquiti’s ecosystem is now positioned to meet those needs in a way that is practical, cost effective and easy to support.

As we head into 2026 we expect even more interest in Wi-Fi 7, multi gigabit switching, self-hosted UniFi OS and the next generation of enterprise cameras. These technologies are well suited to the South African and SADC market where customers need stability, uptime and long term value.

If you are planning your next network upgrade or building a new site, now is the ideal time to explore what Ubiquiti can deliver.
