Charging Luminous Tall Tubular Batteries on your Victron Inverters

If you have an existing backup battery solution with a Victron Inverter and you want to replace your existing battery bank with Luminous tall tubular batteries, it is possible that some configuration changes on your inverter will allow your batteries to operate optimally.

The Luminous tall tubular batteries are lead acid batteries that offer 80% depth of discharge at 1,500 cycles, providing more energy capacity to be pulled from the battery and a longer life cycle than the conventional deep cycle AGM batteries.

Here are the settings on the Victron Inverter that need to be taken into consideration when replacing your battery bank with Luminous batteries. The information below is based on the Luminous Inverlast 200Ah battery.

The voltages will remain the same on the other model with amperage either increasing or decreasing, based on the model – please refer to the datasheet of each model for the correct amperage.

  1. Battery technology – Flooded option must be selected.
  2. Bulk voltage: 14.4V to 15V at a maximum amperage of 20.2A
  3. Absorption: 14.4V to 15V @ 10.1A
  4. Float: 13.6V to 13.8V at 168 to 672mA

When batteries are operating at 27 degrees Celsius, the bulk and absorption voltages remain the same as the charging profile is constant voltage (CV) and not constant current (CC).
