Siklu is well established as a millimetre-wave, backhaul wireless solutions for high capacity, reliable Point-to-Point connections. To prevent Flat fading, due to rain, we highly recommended you use their Link Budget Calculator, before deciding to roll-out a link as this provides vital information such as:
• Expected availability and downtime
• Receive Signal Strength Indicator
• Rain attenuation
• Expected capacity and much more.
You can access the Link Budget Calculator on http://lbc.siklu.com/home.php, and here are a few options that you need to change according to your scenario.
- Product:
From the dropdown list, select the product range that you will be working with.
- Channel Width:
From the dropdown list, you can select the channel width that you will be operating on. Please keep in mind that larger channel widths will provide more throughput but will influence the distance.
- Antennas:
You can select the size of the antennas that you want to use, for example, larger antennas will provide greater distance.
- Location / coordinates:
This is where you will specify the locations of both units. Siklu’s Link Budget Calculator uses the last 50 years’ worth of rain-statistics from all over the world, to allow for highly accurate predictions. Please note: Add the coordinates in decimal degrees when planning.
After the details have been entered, you will get an output from the link calculator in the below format.
